Join the international Marketing Team at Coto Academy as an Editorial Intern, where you will apply your writing, editing, and creative skills in a dynamic, multinational environment in Tokyo, Japan.
About This Role
As an Editorial Intern, you will serve as a bridge connecting our audience to Japan and to our international community. You will create, edit, and publish high-quality content on our website to readers worldwide interested in the Japanese language and culture. Through strategic written strategy, you will also contribute to achieving key business and marketing objectives for Coto Japanese Academy.
What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities will be tailored to your strengths and interests, and may include:
• Writing and editing blog articles, guides, and website content
• Proofreading and enhancing English-language copy
• Assisting in translating and localizing content (Japanese ↔ English)
• Publishing content using our in-house CMS (Content Management System)
• Supporting SEO and content strategy initiatives
• Collaborating with team members across cultures and departments
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is curious, motivated, and genuinely passionate about Japan. You are eager to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to a small but evolving marketing team that values listening, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
You:
• Are a current or recent university graduate
• Have a strong passion for the Japanese language and culture
• Demonstrate excellent English writing skills with keen attention to detail
• Are open to feedback and excited to grow alongside the team
Bonus Points:
• Prior experience in editorial work, blogging, journalism, or content creation
• Familiarity with SEO principles and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress)
• Japanese language ability (approximately JLPT N3 level or equivalent)

We also adopt a hyrid working system. Our team works twice a week in the office and remotely for the rest. Working hours are flexible, but tasks and meetings will generally take place during regular office hours (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM).
Requirement
• Must hold a valid visa that permits participation in an internship in Japan
• Must be able to commit to the internship for a minimum of 3 months
• Must already be in Japan or have confirmed plans to reside in Japan for at least 3 months
• Must be able to commute to our Shinjuku or Shibuya school once or twice per week
• Must have and bring your own laptop
While this is primarily an editorial internship, we welcome applicants who also demonstrate strong interest and proven skills in marketing, digital strategy, or content promotion.
