Under its parent company, Coto World Ltd., Coto Academy is one of Tokyo’s most loved Japanese language schools, with 5 campuses across Tokyo and Yokohama, serving over 15,000 students from all over the world. We’re not your typical language school. Our classes are small, our teacher. Over the years, we’ve helped thousands of expats, students, travelers, and professionals go from zero to confident in Japanese — and we’re just getting started.
Behind the scenes, we’re a flat, diverse, high-performance team that genuinely believes in what we do. We move fast, support each other, and take real ownership of our work. If you want to grow your career in an international environment that values your ideas, your background, and your drive, this is the place.
About Operations Staff Role
Coto Academy is hiring operations staff for our school campuses, with locations in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Azabujuban, Iidabashi, and Yokohama.
You’ll be the person who makes the school work: consulting with students, coordinating lessons, running events, and keeping everything moving. It’s hands-on, people-first, and genuinely varied work in one of Tokyo’s most dynamic international environments.
We’re looking for someone with strong communication skills, a take-ownership mindset, and business-level English. Experience living abroad, working in education, or using English professionally is a plus.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Student consulting — understanding what learners need and guiding them to the right program
- Lesson coordination — working with teachers and students to keep schedules running smoothly
- Event planning and operations — bringing community events and school activities to life
- General school operations — whatever it takes to make Coto an amazing place to learn
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Business-level English (customer-facing communication)
- Business-level Japanese — N2 or above required (internal operations, staff coordination, and administrative work are conducted in Japanese)
- Strong communication skills and a real sense of ownership over your work
- Have lived or studied abroad, worked in Japanese language education, or used English professionally — any of the above is a big plus
More Details
This is a full-time position with a salary determined by your skills and experience. You’ll work 5 days a week on a rotating shift schedule from Monday to Saturday.
